Honestly, I think we are all guilty of getting burnt out so easily that we forget to just stop and take time for ourselves every once in a while. I also think taking mental health days or days to pamper yourself are so incredibly necessary. (Side note, I won a spelling bee once by spelling the word ‘necessary’ sooo yeah.)
OK, back to it.
Taking time for an ‘at home pamper’ sesh is crucial in making sure you are ready to go out and conquer the things you want to do and reach the goals you set for yourself. Remember, the time you set aside for yourself is just as important as making time to see friends and family. You’ve got to give yourself a chance to recharge every once in a while to give your mind, body, and soul a chance to refresh.
When it’s time for a pamper night, what’s my very first step?
Set your soundtrack: Music is key to setting the mood of your pamper night. I usually go for something acoustic and calming like John Mayer or Ed Sheeran. Sometimes I don’t even want music and I just want to listen to beach waves or rain sounds. It all depends on my mood and what I’ll be doing. If I’m reading, I’d rather sounds. If I’m just relaxing and not indulging in a book, I’ll opt for music.
Run a bath: If you don’t have a bath, you should totally get one. I know that sounds dramatic, but they are life-changing. They help ease your muscles and bath salts (when used right) are so beneficial. Baths help you breath easier, improve your heart health, and even help your gastrointestinal health. Crazy, right? I’m not kidding when I say how much I love baths.
Facemask, facemask, face mask: A face mask is the real OG when it comes to feeling like you’re in a spa. This is a crucial part of my routine and it’s my favorite part too. Not only does a mask benefit your skin, but the steam from your bath will really help open your pores and let the product penetrate your skin. Relax: Get bored in the bath? Yes, being on your phone might be relaxing, but try to turn your device off or set it aside when giving yourself a pamper. Grab a book instead. Reading is so helpful when it comes to clearing your mind and allowing you to escape to a different world. Plus, it’s so much better for your head than staring at a screen.
Not into reading? Try to meditate. I have been very interested while reading all about meditation and the benefits of it in everyday life. If you’re not ready to take the plunge in meditating every day, use your bath-time to try it for the first time. Who knows, you may even fall in love with it!
Manicure + Pedicure: Another fav part of my routine? Painting my nails! I’m not sure what it is but I always feel so much better with freshly painted nails. It’s like when your bra and underwear match, you know? You just feel like you have your life together.

And last but not least…
Get some sleep: Put on your fav pj’s, get in bed, and get your beauty sleep! Most adults need about 7-8 hours of sleep per night. According to Everyday Health, ‘A good night’s sleep can mean good skin health because when you’re sleep-deprived, your body makes more of the stress hormone cortisol. Elevated levels of cortisol can lead to increased stress and inflammation in the body, hurting your skin’s quality.’ So next time you decide to stay up and watch Netflix all night (it happens to the best of us), remember how much good that extra hour or two of sleep can be for your skin.
And that’s it! Super simple, but effective. I try to give myself an at-home pamper at least once a week because let’s be real, you deserve it.
